Custom Windshield Banners for Your Car: Styles, Text & Cost
A basic windshield banner installed runs from $80. That is a blank sunstrip-style banner in a color like gloss black or satin black, cut to your windshield and installed at our shop. Custom text and designs cost more depending on the details — anything you want on it, we can do, from a single word to a full-color printed graphic. To quote a custom banner we ask for the year, make, and model plus what you want on it, and we give you a straight price. Here is what the styles look like, what they cost, and how to order one.
What Is a Windshield Banner?
A windshield banner is the strip of vinyl across the top of the windshield — sometimes called a sunstrip. It sits in the top band of the glass, above the driver's line of sight, and does two jobs: it cuts glare from the sun, and it carries a brand, a club name, or a design. Race cars made them famous; now they show up on daily drivers, drift cars, show builds, and company vehicles.
The blank version is the classic: a solid strip in black or a color, giving the windshield that clean visor look. The custom version is anything else — your shop name in white letters, a sponsor logo in full color, a phrase across the glass. Both are cut or printed vinyl, and both install in minutes on a clean windshield.
What Styles Can You Get?
Blank sunstrip. A solid strip with no lettering, usually gloss black or satin black. This is the $80-installed basic. It gives the car the banner look and blocks sun glare without saying anything. Simple, clean, done.
Single-color text banner. Your name, shop, team, or phrase in one color of cut vinyl — white is the most common, but any solid color works. Text is weeded cut vinyl, which means crisp edges and no background film showing around the letters. Tell us the wording and the font style you want and we lay it out for you.
Printed design banner. Logos, graphics, gradients, patterns — anything full color gets printed on vinyl and installed like a banner. This is the move for company vehicles: the business name, logo, and phone number across the windshield of the shop truck or the delivery van. Printed banners carry whatever artwork you send, or we build the layout for you.
Windshield visor strip. A wider, taller banner that reads like a sun visor — the bold motorsport look. Same pricing idea: blank starts low, custom text and design price by the details.
How Much Does a Windshield Banner Cost Installed?
A basic blank banner installed starts at $80. That covers the material and the install at our Agoura Hills shop — no quote process needed, just book it and roll in.
Custom work prices by the details: text, design, printed vs cut vinyl, and size. There is no menu price for custom because a two-word banner and a full-color printed design are different jobs. The process is simple: tell us the year, make, and model of the car, tell us what you want on the banner (words, colors, logo, or a file), and we quote it straight. Custom work can be anything — if you can describe it, we can make it.
Related installs for reference: a full tinted windshield runs $250 to $300, which some owners pair with a banner for the full dark-glass look. Read how tint and film work together on Wrap vs PPF: Which Is Right for You?.
Will a Windshield Banner Block My View?
No. The banner sits in the top band of the windshield, above where you look while driving. It works like a factory sunshade strip — you see under it, and it cuts the sun coming from above. If you are tall and worried about sight lines, tell us when you order and we can adjust the height. For show cars and race cars that want the taller visor look, we cut those wider on purpose.
How Long Does a Windshield Banner Last?
It is vinyl, so it ages like vinyl: years on the glass with basic care. The windshield is the most sun-exposed panel on the car, so a banner takes more UV than a door decal — but it is also small, easy to keep clean, and easy to replace when it is tired. Hand-wash it with the rest of the car, and skip the ice scraper across it in the cold mornings. The same care rules that apply to a wrapped car apply here — read How to Wash a Wrapped Car the Right Way for the routine.
Can I Bring My Own Design?
Yes. Send the text you want, a font style you like, or your logo file, and we build the layout. If you do not have a design, describe it in words — what it should say, what colors, what vibe — and we design it. The only thing that slows a banner down is a fuzzy screenshot of a logo; if you have the original file, send that. If you do not, send the year, make, model, and the idea, and we work with it.
Printed stickers and decals use the same workflow: custom artwork, real pricing by size and quantity, no guessing. See the full breakdown in Ceramic Coating for Vinyl Wrap: Is It Worth It? for how we protect printed film — or just send the idea and we take it from there.
How Do I Order a Windshield Banner?
Three ways:
- 1. Blank basic — book it. From $80 installed, pick your color, we cut and install it while you wait.
- 2. Custom text or design — email or call with the year, make, and model, plus what you want on it. We quote it, you approve, we cut and install.
- 3. Fleet or club — same banner across multiple cars? Send the vehicle list and the design once. We keep your file on record so vehicle three matches vehicle one.
Pair it with the rest of the car: banners look best on cars that are already finished — a wrapped roof, chrome delete, or door branding ties it together. If your vehicle promotes a business, a banner plus door lettering is the fastest way to make it read as a company car.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a windshield banner cost?
A basic blank banner installed starts at $80. Custom text and designs cost more depending on the details — send the year, make, and model plus what you want on it and we quote it straight.
What do you need to quote a custom banner?
The year, make, and model of the vehicle, plus what you want on the banner: the words, the colors, the logo, or a file. Describe it in plain words and we build the layout.
Will a windshield banner block my view?
No. It sits in the top band of the windshield above your line of sight, like a factory sunshade strip. It cuts glare from the sun without getting in the way.
Can you print a full-color design on a banner?
Yes. Logos, graphics, and full-color artwork get printed on vinyl and installed like a banner. Single-color text is cut vinyl with crisp weeded edges — your call.
Can a windshield banner be removed?
Yes. A banner is vinyl and removes cleanly when it is time for a change. If old adhesive needs extra cleanup, removal runs $100 an hour like any wrap removal — most banners come off easy.
