PPF for Teslas in Calabasas & Agoura Hills
Teslas are the most PPF'd cars at our Agoura Hills shop. Tesla paint is thin and chips easy, and daily 101 freeway miles between Calabasas and Agoura Hills throw grit at the front bumper, hood, and mirrors. Paint protection film fixes that. Full front PPF (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights) starts at $1,995 and takes two to three days. Full body PPF runs from $5,900 for a Model 3 and $6,400 for a Model Y, about five days. Here is how Tesla owners around here decide between the two.
Why Do Teslas Get PPF More Than Any Other Car Here?
We PPF more Teslas than anything else at the shop, and it is not close. Two reasons. First, Tesla paint is thin. It chips easier than most factory paint. Front bumpers and hoods on Model 3s and Model Ys pick up rock chips fast, and once the paint is chipped, touch-up never looks factory again.
Second, the driving. Most of our Tesla customers commute the 101 between Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills, and the Westside, or run the canyons on weekends. That is daily freeway grit, truck spray, and road debris aimed at the front of the car. A year of that commute without protection looks like sandblasting on a white or black bumper.
That combination (soft paint plus hard miles) is exactly what paint protection film is built for. If you want the full breakdown of what PPF is and what it does, read What Is Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Why You Need It.
Should Your Tesla Get Full Front or Full Body PPF?
Full front PPF covers the panels that take the hits: front bumper, full hood, front fenders, side mirrors, and headlights. At Vaderwerks it starts at $1,995 for gloss and $2,495 for stealth. For most daily-driven Teslas, this is the sweet spot, it protects where the damage happens for well under half the cost of a full body job.
Full body PPF films every painted panel on the car. It is for new cars you plan to keep a long time, Teslas in dark colors that show every chip, and owners who want the whole car uniform, no line where the film stops, and the self-healing top coat on every panel. How Self-Healing PPF Works explains what that top coat does.
Our rule of thumb: if the car is a commuter and the paint is still clean, do the full front. If you just took delivery or the car is a keeper, do the full body.
How Much Is PPF for a Tesla Model 3, Y, S, X, and Cybertruck?
Here are our current PPF prices by model. Gloss is the default finish; stealth prices are standalone numbers.
- Full front PPF: from $1,995 (gloss) / $2,495 (stealth), any Tesla
- Model 3 (sedan): full body gloss $5,900 / stealth $6,400
- Model Y (SUV): full body gloss $6,400 / stealth $6,900
- Model S (sedan): full body gloss $5,900 / stealth $6,400
- Model X (SUV): full body gloss $6,400 / stealth $6,900
- Cybertruck (truck): full body gloss from $7,400 / stealth from $7,900
A ceramic coating on top of the PPF is $800, or $600 when we do it with a fresh PPF install.
For comparison: a full color-change vinyl wrap on a Model 3 runs $3,400 at our shop. A wrap changes the look; PPF protects the paint you already have.
Gloss or Stealth PPF on a Tesla?
Gloss PPF keeps the factory look and adds depth, on a black or white Tesla it looks like a fresh detail that never fades. Stealth PPF turns any color into a satin finish, which is why half the matte-grey-looking Teslas you see around Calabasas are actually stealth PPF over factory paint. Stealth is priced as its own number (see the table above), not an add-on. Full detail here: Gloss vs Stealth PPF: What's the Difference?
How Long Does Tesla PPF Take?
Front end: two to three days. Full body: about five days. We need the car in the shop for the full job, film needs a clean, controlled space to lay down right, and the edges need to set before the car goes back on the 101. If you have a tight schedule, book a week or two out, especially before a road trip.
Should You Add Ceramic Coating on Top of PPF?
Ceramic on PPF makes washing easier and adds UV and chemical resistance, which matters with valley sun beating on the car all summer. It is $800, or $600 when we do it with a fresh PPF install. It does not replace washing, it just makes washing faster. Full breakdown: Ceramic Coating for PPF
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is full front PPF for a Tesla?
From $1,995 for gloss or $2,495 for stealth. It covers the front bumper, full hood, front fenders, mirrors, and headlights, the panels that take freeway damage.
Is full body PPF worth it on a Tesla?
If you plan to keep the car for years or you just took delivery, yes. A Model 3 runs $5,900 gloss for full body; a Model Y runs $6,400. It protects every panel and keeps resale strong.
How long does PPF installation take on a Tesla?
Two to three days for a full front, about five days for a full body. We keep the car for the whole job so the film sets properly.
Will PPF hide rock chips already on my Tesla?
No, PPF is clear, so chips underneath still show through. Film protects clean paint; it does not fix damaged paint. Get chips touched up first, then protect them.
Can you do stealth PPF on a Cybertruck?
Yes. Full body stealth PPF on a Cybertruck starts at $7,900. It gives the stainless body a uniform satin finish and protects the panels.
Should I get PPF right after taking delivery of my Tesla?
Yes. New paint chips fastest because it has zero protection, and every week of 101 commuting adds chips. The sooner the film goes on, the less paint damage there is to work around.
